International Conference "Mechatronics 2004" September 23-25.2004

   General information

The Faculty of Mechatronics was established in 1962, at that time it was named the Faculty of Precision Mechanical Engineering. The faculty is a multidisciplinary one. Didactic and scientific activities of the faculty are focused on modern technical problems including automatic control, electronics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanics, robotics, optics, biomedical engineering and metrology. According to the definition given by International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanism mechatronics is "synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic control and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing processes ".
The Faculty consists of five independent units:

The Faculty of Mechatronics cooperates with many domestic and foreign scientific institutions and organizes international seminars, workshops and conferences, including international conference MECHATRONICS, organized regularly since 1990.

   Study and students

Faculty conducts full-time, evening and weekend studies. Education is carried on in the three level system:

  1. B.Sc. Engineer - 4 years study (3+1)
  2. M.Sc. Engineer - 5 or 6 years study (3+2 or 4+2)
  3. Ph.D. - 4 years study

There are approximately 900 full-time students and 200 students attending evening and weekend courses and 50 Ph.D students. The total number of academic staff exceeds 100 professors and assistant professors.

The education system is an elastic one. This enables students to adapt courses to their individual interests .    Study at the Faculty, according to Polish regulations, is carried on within macro-course MECHATRONICS. The course includes two basic courses:

M.Sc. students can chose their final specialization among the following ones

B.Sc. students can get final specialization from the following ones:

Students are obliged to choose specialization during the third year of study.
