For a couple months the teams of nominees have been developing their projects as a part of the  MedTech-Athon – „Engineers for Medicine”. Their results will be presented during the Demo Day. We would like to invite you to a series of lectures to be delivered by Barry C. Barish, Prof.Tit. and Arthur B. McDonald, Prof.Tit., winners of the nobel Prize in physics. McDonald from the Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, has received his prize in 2015 for his groundbreaking work in the area of neutrinos physics. Barish, from the University of California, Riverside in the USA, was awarded the prize in 2017 for his key input in the historic discovery of gravitational waves. I would like to inform you that we will host a seminar on biomedical engineering on 7 February, 2023 at 14:15, in hall 14 (Seminar Centre). Jerzy Orkiszewski, ME, BEng, a graduate of our Faculty (currently running his business in the USA) will deliver a presentation on the basics of interaction of light and tissue, as well as on the directions of development of laser devices in medicine.

The seminar is coordinated by Tadeusz Pałko, Prof.Tit. I wholeheartedly invite everyone interested in the area mentioned above to attend this event.

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our colleague Franciszek Białokoz - a graduate of the Faculty of Electronics at the Warsaw University of Technology, an employee of the Institute of Metrology and Biomedical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, associated with the Faculty of Mechatronics from its inception, a specialist in biomedical engineering, designer of biomedical devices, including impedance rheographs. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to his family and relatives. Management, Friends, Colleagues from the Institute and the entire Department of Mechatronics. The funeral will be held on 27.01.2023 in St. Jerome's Church in Stara Miłosna, 2/4 Rumiankowa St. (Warsaw-Wesoła) at 12 noon.

The competition is addressed to students, doctoral students and graduates who, during their studies, became inventors/co-authors of an invention or utility/industrial design protected by an exclusive right or submitted for protection at the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland or a relevant industrial property office abroad. The organisers are also waiting for applications resulting from international cooperation in which students from foreign universities are co-creators. The call continues until 25 January 2023.

The recruitment is in progress for the 3rd edition of LeaderSHEp in Tech Academy - a mentoring-training programme organized by Perspektywy Women in Tech , supported by Motorola Solutions Foundation. The 31 st grande finale of WOŚP will take place on Sunday. Please join us on 29 January 2023 to the PW Main  Building for a multitude of small and big attractions. Between 13.00-18.00 the Big Hall will be filled with our students science groups that will unravel the fascinating world of science. We have dance workshops and numerous contest for the youngest participants. At 14:00 in the Small Hall we will start the auction of attractions. Among them are a coffee break with the PW Rector or a photo shoot at the PW Main Building. At 16:15 The Engineers Band - the PW Entertainment Orchestra will deliver a spectacular performance. The graduates of our faculty have received two awards and four distinctions during the Adam Smoliński, Prof.Tit. Contest for the best diploma papers in optoelectronics. The topics of the contest organised by Polish Optoelectronics Committee, encompasses research on basic phenomena, materials, elements, systems optoelectronics technologies and the construction of devices and optoelectronic metrology apparatus.

The next session will take place between 11-18 March, 2023. Student registration will open on 19 January and continue until 31 January. You are invited to attend a course on the potential use of UAVs and photogrammetric modelling in heritage conservation projects. The course for students will be available from 15 January until the end of March 2023. It will include approximately 2.5 hours of video course + one Zoom webinar (date and time to be determined).
