Doctorate at Mechatronics? The recruitment is underway!

We are waiting for people who want to join the ranks of our doctoral students. Once all the formalities are completed, a beautiful research and teaching adventure awaits. And maybe even a great career? Recruitment continues until 14 August 2023.

A few years ago, the form of doctoral training changed. Instead of third-cycle (doctoral) studies, Doctoral Schools appeared and several modifications were made (including the fact that every doctoral student receives a stipend). One thing that remains constant is the conduct of research that will lead to the writing and subsequent defense of a doctoral thesis. Jacek Sikorski, PhD, the first graduate of the Doctoral School at the Warsaw University of Technology, has already followed such a path. His story can be an excellent source of information and inspiration for anyone thinking about a PhD. Learn more about this storyarto poznać tę opowieść.

What is the recruitment process like?

Here is the recruitment to the PW Doctoral School step by step:

  1. Find a potential promotor and contact him or her to agree on the planned research area. You might find the promotors and research areas browser useful. Please note there is no option to choose the topic of your paper for a list there. The browser provides a list of promotors, the limits of vacancies for specific scholars and the research area of expertise of a given person. This year, we have prepared over 400 topics in 13 disciplines. Plenty to choose from.
  2. Register in the IRK recruitment system.
Fill in your personal details and information about your education. Upload a photo. Choose a discipline. Make your payment (in the academic year 2023/2024 it is PLN 200). Complete all sections, including the Outline of Research Dissertation Concept. Download the necessary files and upload scans of the signed documents. You have until 14 August to complete these formalities.
  3. If you pass the merit check, you will receive an invitation to an interview. These interviews are scheduled to take place between 25 August and 8 September.
  4. After the interview, your qualification status will change: to ELIGIBLE - if you obtain the required number of points or UNELIGIBLE - if you do not obtain the required number of points. The ranking list will be published on 13 September.
  5. If you are shortlisted, you submit additional documents (diploma and statement) to the IRK system. You have from 14 to 20 September to do this.
  6. The admission list will be announced on 25 September. There are 155 places available at the PW Doctoral School for the 2023/2024 academic year.
  7. Once the admission list has been announced, the Doctoral Services Department will inform you of the next steps, including the deadlines for the submission of original admission documents.
