It’s a second award for Sandra Lepak-Kuc, BEng, PhD!
The 4th Faculty of Technical Sciences Awards of the Polish Academy of Sciences are awarded annually for extraordinary papers (or series of papers) from the area of technical sciences represented by the 4th Faculty of Technical Sciences of Polish Academy of Sciences. This year, six winners have been elected, among them Sandra Lepak-Kuc, BEng, PhD. It is her second award for her doctoral thesis entitled “Technology of Manufacturing Electric Cables With Doped Fibres Made of Carbon Nanopipes”. The previous award was granted to Lepak-Kuc by Siemens. Congratulations!
The young scientist has attempted to clear, dope and hybridize fibers made of carbon nanopipes with graphene. She has conducted extensive laboratory tests and a broad analysis of the results of material research, such as TGA, SEM or Raman spectroscopy, which enable her to understand the mechanisms of doping and hybridizing. This resulted in an improvement of 945% in conductivity of fibres. The resulting improvements in power conductivity represent a significant achievement when compared to other reports in this area, published worldwide in scientific literature.
