„NSMET – National Network of Coordinate Metrology” Project

The head of the project is Tomasz Kowaluk, PhD, BEng from our Faculty.

The PW Faculty of Mechatronics is engaged in the NSMET Project - the National Network of Coordinate Metrology. The project and the unique research agenda connected with it are executed as a joint effort of four Polish technical universities. The consortium consists of: Cracow University of Technology (Leader), Poznan University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology and Kielce University of Technology.

The idea behind the project is to create an infrastructure, to be entered into the Polish Map of Research Investments. The goal of NSMET is to cross the borders of our knowledge by ensuring the highest precision of geometry measurements of internal and external structures of the measured objects, covering scales from nano- to large-scale (corresponding to the range of between 10-9 m and 102 m). These goals will be achieved with the conceptualisation of proper apparatus base, as well as devising new methods of error correction, uncertainty of measurement evaluation and making patterns of and testing both the measurement systems and the patterns.

The head of the project on behalf of Warsaw University of Technology is Tomasz Kowaluk, PhD, BEng from our Faculty. With the participation in the project, the PW employees will gain access to highly specialised measurement equipment with the total value of approximately 40 mln PLN.

Total project costs: 46 553 050,00 PLN

Project qualified costs: 40 296 450,14 PLN

Subsidy: 33 209 106,20 PLN
