PhD candidates - deadline is approaching! 31.07.2023!

The Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), in cooperation with The Arctic University of Norway in Tromso (UiT), is looking for candidates for a fully funded 4-year National Science Center (Poland) PRELUDIUM BIS PhD program focused on developing new numerical methods in nanoscale optical measurements and imaging employing Bayesian inference. The project is based on preliminary results obtained in cooperation with PhD Maciek Wielgus from the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy (Bonn, Germany) and Maria Cywińska (WUT). The prospective candidate will join the Quantitative Computational Imaging Lab led by prof. Maciej Trusiak (WUT) and will collaborate with prof. Balpreet Ahluwalia’s group (UiT).

During the PhD course the candidate will:
• Work in a vibrant group on a novel technology for optical metrology, together with WUT and UiT.
• Spend a fully paid 6 months internship at UiT.
• Publish in top notch journals and attend renowned international conferences.
• Have funding for laboratory and office purchases.
• Receive competitive renumeration up to approximately 8000 PLN per month.
 
The prospective PhD candidate should:
• Be an enthusiastic programmer interested in optics and photonics.
• Have completed a Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related fields by the doctoral school submission deadline (14th August 2023) and successfully applied to the doctoral school of WUT.
• Have experience in MATLAB and Python programming and enthusiasm for scientific work.
 
The application will be conditioned on the acceptance to the doctoral school of the WUT. The official PhD course start day is 1st October 2023. PhD will be co-supervised by Maria Cywińska (WUT).
