The bolid of dreams

Several days ago we had the opportunity to welcome the new bolid of the WUT Racing team at our Faculty. - A project of this magnitude and advancement, requiring interdisciplinary cooperation - building a racing car - is based on suitable organisation of work, knowledge basis and the ability to establish cooperation between different students groups - says Marcin Płatek, head of the WUT Racing team.

The team includes specialists in vehicle mechanics and dynamics, materials engineering, strength engineering, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, electronics and electrical engineering, logistics, fundraising, marketing - a total of 76 people from 11 faculties of the Warsaw University of Technology. The students worked and are working within five technical departments (aerodynamics, support structure, suspension, electronics and engine) and three operational departments (logistics, fundraising, marketing). Already this structure shows that the teams in Formula Student are based on Formula 1 models on a daily basis. 

WUT-5 is the fifth structure designed and built by students from the WUT Racing Students Study Group. It has competed - like its predecessors - in international competitions in the Formula Student series. In the 2024 season, students took part in three competitions. The start in Hungary and Poland were the most successful. 

  • In FS East (Hungary), our team's car took 2nd place in the Endurance competition - a long-distance race, the crown competition of Formula Student.
  • In FS Poland, WUT Racing time enjoyed 3rd place in the Acceleration competition (the car's acceleration time over a distance of 75 metres).
