ACTPHAST 4R - Accelerating Photonics Deployment via one Stop Shop Advanced Technology Access for Researchers

Head of the project at PW: Małgorzata Kujawińska, Prof.Tit., PhD, BEng

project duration: 01.01.2019-31.12.2022

grant assigned for the project: 8 000 000 Euro

funds assigned for the tasks at PW: 230.037 Euro

The project is carried out at the Warsaw University of Technology by optical and photonic groups from the Faculty of Mechatronics (Inst. of Micromechanics and Photonics) and Electronics and Information Technology (Inst. of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics), which for many years have been cooperating with leading research centres in Europe and worldwide to promote photonic solutions and their commercialisation.

ACTPHAST 4R (ACTPHAST for Researchers) is specifically designed to provide access for researchers working in both photonics and other research areas (biomedicine, multimedia, communications, agriculture, security, etc.) to the knowledge and platforms of advanced photonics technologies (Photonics Technology Platforms) to enable the development of breakthrough concepts, research and verification of results using the highest quality equipment.

ACTPHAST 4R offers:

The project is executed by an international consortium of 24 research centres coordinated by VUB - Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

The expected outcome of ACTPHAST 4R activities, focused on the support of researchers, is that their concepts/ideas will reach a higher level of technological readiness (from TRL1-2 to TRL 3-5) through the use of mature photonic technologies, and higher implementation and investment readiness as a result of business coaching. In addition, through its extensive outreach activities, ACTPHAST 4R will ensure a higher level of awareness and understanding among European researchers of topics concerning the technical and commercial potential of photonics.
