ATHENS

Athens

Created in 1997, ATHENS is a programme aimed at exchanging students between leading European technical universities and participating in joint European development and training programmes. Currently there are 15 participating institutions from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Spain.

ATHENS sessions are held twice a year, in March and November. Each includes a 5-day intensive course (30 hours) and a cultural programme of European Dimension Activities (10-15 hours). At the end, the host institution officially recognises/evaluates the work done, taking into account the results of an examination organised by the institution and assessed according to the local grading system. For each session, 2-3 ECTS credits can be obtained. Participation is free of charge, and students cover travel and subsistence costs on their own.
