Centre for Advanced Studies

The Centre for Advanced Studies is a non-departmental unit of Warsaw University of Technology. The idea of the Centre was born in 2000, with the first offer of lectures at the advanced level, addressed to doctoral students. The Centre for Advanced Studies was established on 1 February 2008 by way of a decree of the Rector of Warsaw University of Technology.

The Centre's primary objective is to improve the quality of education and research of students and doctoral students. This is achieved by means of a broad, interdisciplinary offer of advanced studies, developed in cooperation with the scientific staff of the University as well as scientists working at renowned international research centres. This offer is reflected in Lecture Notes publications, as well as Small Methodological Monographs. The Centre also organises popular science discussions for a wider audience. These meetings are intended to cover a wide range of topics and provide an opportunity for discussion with the participation of the audience.

A new and important activity of the Centre is its participation in the project Development Programme of the Warsaw University of Technology, which is implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and co-financed by the European Union within the European Social Fund. Thanks to funds from the Project, outstanding doctoral students as well as research and didactic employees of the University receive financial support from the Centre, which enables them to carry out ambitious research projects.
