The EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 finale is over! The Polish representation has won 13 medals: 3 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze and 6 medals of excellence! There are the students from our Faculty among the winners: Hubert Krasuski and Piotr Wyrzyk from the Automatics, Robotics and Industrial IT. They won the European edition of the World Skills contest in the Industrial Robots Integration category. Thank you for the emotions your performance has provided, we are extremely proud of you! Warsaw University of Technology Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics announces a call for a PhD Student position within the NCN OPUS Project entitled “[PHAICELL] Coherent quantitative phase microscopy: revisiting the basics and proposing novel numerical reconstruction methods with applications for advanced label-free bio-imaging”.  The project offers unique conditions for scientific research in an innovative area of optical bio-imaging and attractive remuneration. Warsaw University of Technology students are invited to apply for the week-long ATHENS programme run at 15 universities of technology across Europe. The programme consists of a 5-day course (30 hours) and a cultural component. You can earn 2-3 ECTS credits for it. Participation in the ATHENS programme is free of charge. Students cover their living expenses on their own.

The PW Faculty of Mechatronics, being the honorary patron of the event, invites  to the Conference on machines intelligence and digital interaction (MIDI 2023). The organizer of the event is the National Information Processing Institute in Warsaw, which runs research on most inspirational areas of IT, such as AI, semantic text analysis, human-computer interaction and user experience. On 14 and 15 September, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., representatives of universities from Poland and abroad will appear in the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology. Lenseless holographic microscopy opens new opportunities for screening alive cells. Maciej Trusiak, Prof.Tit., PhD, BEng. of the Faculty of Mechatronics of Warsaw University of Technology, will be the first one to utilise it in the NaNoLens project. Trusiak is the first PW researcher to receive the ERC grant.

Yesterday, i.e. on 19 July we have celebrated another anniversary of launching a new clock on the Sigismund Tower in Warsaw. The construction and montage of the device has been supervised by Zdzisław Mrugalski, Prof.Tit., PhD, BEng. This great professional, a watchmaker by profession for many years, has been connected with the Faculty of Mechatronics (previously the Faculty of Precise Mechanics), also as its dean. The Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), in cooperation with The Arctic University of Norway in Tromso (UiT), is looking for candidates for a fully funded 4-year National Science Center (Poland) PRELUDIUM BIS PhD program focused on developing new numerical methods in nanoscale optical measurements and imaging employing Bayesian inference. The project is based on preliminary results obtained in cooperation with PhD Maciek Wielgus from the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy (Bonn, Germany) and Maria Cywińska (WUT). The prospective candidate will join the Quantitative Computational Imaging Lab led by prof. Maciej Trusiak (WUT) and will collaborate with prof. Balpreet Ahluwalia’s group (UiT).

Warsaw University of Technology has won the third places in the ranking of the best universities in Poland. Here is how our study courses fared: first place for Biomedical Engineering and second for Automatics and Robotics along with Mechatronics. This is the seventh time in a row that we are ranked number three in the universities ranking and the 18th time we score first place among technical universities. We would like to invite you to participate in the contest for the best master's  and doctoral papers on the subject of disability in the following dimensions: social, occupational or health. For the authors of doctoral theses, the Contest provides three cash prizes in each category: PLN 13,000, PLN 11,000 and PLN 9,000, similarly for authors of Master's papers PLN 7,000, PLN 5,000, PLN 4,000. The works can be submitted in the following categories:1) social and vocational rehabilitation, 2) technological and architectural solutions serving people with disabilities, 3) accessibility for people with special needs, 4) medical rehabilitation.
