DEICy 2023 broker meetings

Faculty of Mechatronics together with the Digital Economy Lab of University of Warsaw and Europe Network invite to the 3rd edition of international broker meetings DEICy 2023 Digital Economy, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity – global challenges and opportunities of digital transformation (online edition). The broker meetings are scheduled as online ones between 9:00 and 17:00 (CET) between 20 and 24 November 2023. The participation is complimentary. XII edition of the Stanisław Staszic competition for the best innovative products “Lauren of Innovativeness 2022/2023”

Clock on the tower of Royal Castle in Warsaw

Yesterday, i.e. on 19 July we have celebrated another anniversary of launching a new clock on the Sigismund Tower in Warsaw. The construction and montage of the device has been supervised by Zdzisław Mrugalski, Prof.Tit., PhD, BEng. This great professional, a watchmaker by profession for many years, has been connected with the Faculty of Mechatronics (previously the Faculty of Precise Mechanics), also as its dean. Next year we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of this event. The interesting story of the clock built to replace the one which has not survived the war is available here - link.

PhD candidates - deadline is approaching! 31.07.2023!

The Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), in cooperation with The Arctic University of Norway in Tromso (UiT), is looking for candidates for a fully funded 4-year National Science Center (Poland) PRELUDIUM BIS PhD program focused on developing new numerical methods in nanoscale optical measurements and imaging employing Bayesian inference. The project is based on preliminary results obtained in cooperation with PhD Maciek Wielgus from the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy (Bonn, Germany) and Maria Cywińska (WUT). The prospective candidate will join the Quantitative Computational Imaging Lab led by prof. Maciej Trusiak (WUT) and will collaborate with prof. Balpreet Ahluwalia’s group (UiT).

We are at the top! Results of the Perspektywy Ranking

Warsaw University of Technology has won the third places in the ranking of the best universities in Poland. Here is how our study courses fared: first place for Biomedical Engineering and second for Automatics and Robotics along with Mechatronics. This is the seventh time in a row that we are ranked number three in the universities ranking and the 18th time we score first place among technical universities. Traditionally, the only universities ahead of us are The University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University in Cracow (this year ex equo first place). Full results are available at website

Open Door Contest

We would like to invite you to participate in the contest for the best master's  and doctoral papers on the subject of disability in the following dimensions: social, occupational or health. For the authors of doctoral theses, the Contest provides three cash prizes in each category: PLN 13,000, PLN 11,000 and PLN 9,000, similarly for authors of Master's papers PLN 7,000, PLN 5,000, PLN 4,000. The works can be submitted in the following categories:1) social and vocational rehabilitation, 2) technological and architectural solutions serving people with disabilities, 3) accessibility for people with special needs, 4) medical rehabilitation. Deadline for submission of entries: until 20 September 2023.

ENHANCE: Learning Environments for Alpha Generation

The Center for International Cooperation invites WUT academic staff and students to an international ENHANCE „Learning environments for Alpha Generation” workshop on creating innovative learning environments tailored to the needs of the Alpha Generation. During the workshop, academic teachers, administrative staff and students will explore and discuss innovative approaches to creating effective learning environments tailored specifically for the unique needs of the Generation Alpha cohort.

Gender and Diversity in Science, Technology and Society

On behalf of the Centre of International Cooperation of PW and the ENHANCE Consortium we invite you for the ENHANCE “Gender and Diversity in Science, Technology and Society" 2023 summer school, scheduled for 25-29 September, 2023 at the Berlin University of Technology. The Summer School enables one to get 3, 4 or 6 ECTS points. Over the course of the classes, the participants will gain knowledge and competences necessary to understand the mechanisms of creating gender and social  inequalities. They will also learn what intersection positioning is and how to counteract it. The registration ends on 28 June 2023.

Watches in services of science

Between 16-17 June, 2023, the Lublin Conference Centre was the site of the event commemorating 211 birthday of Antoni Norbert Patek - the founder of the most exclusive brand of watches - Patek Philippe. As a part of the meeting, Sergiusz Łuczak, Prof.Tit., has delivered a presentation entitled “Watches Cardiology - the Structure and Running of Contemporary Watches”. We have the results of the Engineer 4 Science 2023 Contest!

The best diploma papers prepared at the biggest and most important technical universities in Poland have been selected. Among the winners, there are 11 students from Warsaw University of Technology, including 2 from the Faculty of Mechatronics: Agata Biernacka, BEng and Kacper Kilianek, BEng. The full list of winners is available here. Digital Horizon

The Digital Horizon Conference, which took place on 15 June 2023, was directed at people looking for opportunities to develop and finance innovative digital solutions as a part of the EU Framework Programmes. Robert Sitnik, Prof.Tit., PhD, BEng as one of the panelists at the event, delivering his presentation “Digital Technologies for Cultural Heritage”.

European Economic Forum - Łódzkie 2023

The forum was a place for reflection on the influence of economy on environment  and climate, as well as on the green transformation. One of the panels on “AI and Robotics: Industrial Revolution and its influence on regional development” was attended by Janusz Cieszyński, the Minister of Digitization and Roman Szczewczyk, Prof.Tit, PhD, BEng from our Faculty.
