"5th ALICE Upgrade Week" Conference

Students and staff from the Warsaw University of Technology's Faculties of Physics, Electronics and Information Technology, Mechatronics and Automobiles and Working Machines attended a prestigious conference focusing on the modernisation of the ALICE detector, one of the key research instruments used at CERN. The event was attended by people involved in the development of research projects related to large-scale physical experiments. Our staff play a key role in the implementation of new technological solutions, including the development of detector mechanics and the creation of DCS systems. Their participation in the modernisation of the ALICE detector highlights the importance of Polish scientists in global Big Science research projects. More information

Library training for 1st year students

The Library Training Course will be available: October 2 – 31, 2024 (for all students who study in English as the language of instruction). The training is obligatory. The library training for the 1st year students is conducted in an electronic way on the Leon platform

Obituary

Elżbieta Gruszczyńska, MEng, passed away on 18 October, 2024. She was a long-standing employee of the Faculty of Mechatronics, the creator and head of the Faculty Library. A wonderful, kind a good person. She will remain in our grateful memories forever.

The bolid of dreams

Several days ago we had the opportunity to welcome the new bolid of the WUT Racing team at our Faculty. - A project of this magnitude and advancement, requiring interdisciplinary cooperation - building a racing car - is based on suitable organisation of work, knowledge basis and the ability to establish cooperation between different students groups - says Marcin Płatek, head of the WUT Racing team.

Workshops

We have planned a series of of three workshops at PW, entitled ‘Turn Your Passion Into Business!’ It aims to test selected methods of inspiring young people in practice. Through open meetings with entrepreneurs and investors, we want to show the opportunities, possibilities and practice of running your own business in the deep-tech industry. Our workshops are intended to provide basic knowledge, practical examples and inspiring role models (including personal ones). The workshop is organised on 17, 21 and 29 October in Warsaw, in the building at 4 Rektorska St., room. 4.07, from 4 to 7 pm.

XXI Academic Circles and Students' Organisations Fair

Studying is not only about learning - these words are often repeated, but how to put them into practice? Let's take inspiration from the KONIK Fair - an annual event organised by the WUT Council of Study Circles, where you can see various forms of student activity at WUT in one place: scientific, social-organisational, artistic, sports.... What can you do at Warsaw University of Technology outside of classes? Financing the participation of academic teachers in international services

The head of CPR announces the 6th edition of contest for financing the participation of academic teachers in international educational services  improving their didactic competences. Contest for the scripts of short movie forms of popular science materials

The call for scripts for short popular science films has been launched. The call for applications is open until the funds are exhausted, but no later than 2 June 2025. The prize in the competition is the production of a video based on the draft of the script that has been submitted to the competition. The prize includes expert support in writing the final version of the script, filming of the footage by a professional camera operator, editing and publication on the Warsaw University of Technology's YouTube channel. Gaudeamus!

On Tuesday, 1 October 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Mechatronics at the Warsaw University of Technology, the ceremonial Inauguration of the Academic Year 2024/2025 took place. The event was attended by a number of invited guests, including the university authorities, representatives of the self-government and students who are starting a new stage in their lives.

Summer in Space

We come with an interesting piece of information: Pavel Rukat and Yelyzaveta Leshchenko spent the summer in an unusual way, taking part in the largest international analogue lunar mission - Mission Analogue Colony 1, organised by the Analog Astronaut Training Center (AATC). This unique event brought together analogue astronauts from around the world, and the AATC habitat was designed to accommodate 30 people in isolation, under fully controlled environmental, physiological and psychological conditions, with the approval of an ethics committee.

World’s TOP 2% Scientists includes two lists. First one is about the entire research career of a given individual, the other one is based on the bibliometric data from the last calendar year. Warsaw University of Technology boasts 64 employees, including 4 people from our Faculty, on the former list and 36 people, including 5 from our Faculty, on the latter.The World’s TOP 2% Scientists ranking is based on such bibliometric data as the total number of quotations, the Hirsch Index (h-index) and the Schreiber co-authorship adjusted index (hm-index).

Didactic Initiatives of Students

You are cordially invited to take part in a competition for students and PhD students to submit didactic initiatives that will influence the development of modern education in Poland. The prize pool is PLN 7,000 and the deadline for submitting your projects is 10 November,2024. The organiser of the contest is Foundation for Quality Education, which has been raising the didactic bar in higher education for years. The Didactic Initiatives of Students contest is a response to the needs of the academic community - students, PhD students, lecturers and university authorities.

AI-Web of Science Research Assistant
